A friend (who might also happen to volunteer at TC) ask me if I would want to go hang out with kids for an evening and the rest is history. I think that was back in January 2013 or sometime around there. In addition to volunteering I have the privilege to serve on the TC board. The greatest thing is that people of all ages can teach one different lessons, and my hope is the kids that come to TC will learn about the greatest choice they could every make as they continually remind me of God’s amazing love.

I started volunteering at Teen Central around the spring of 2015. I chose to volunteer because I realized that as a young man I have a tremendous opportunity to influence these teens. I have grown to love Teen Central. The youth are great and I believe my time there is well spent. It is most encouraging to see the growth and change of the teens as they come.

I love kids of all ages…once upon a time I was one! I grew up in a single Mom setting with a sister two years younger than me. I struggled through childhood. I accepted Jesus Christ at sixteen, but it wasn’t until I was twenty-seven that I began to passionately pursue the reality of a life infused with Jesus Christ. The inner healing began; as well as a clarity of God-given purpose for my life in Christ.

I’ve been blessed with an indescribably awesome wife, two amazing sons, their dynamic wives and seven godly grandchildren. To God alone be ALL the glory! In addition to a phenomenal, Christian family life experience; I was privileged to participate in the following youth related ministry activities.

-I spent two summers as a Y.M.C.A. overnight camp counselor.

-I was a Big Brother to an inner city boy for a year.

-I was a weekend overnight counselor with Teen Haven inner city youth for two years.

-I owned and managed a Christian outreach called The Iron Horse Gym for fifteen years.

-I co-founded and co-taught an all guys Bible Study and a coed Bible Study from evangelized gym members and their friends.

-I organized 5-day annual Advances (retreats) for the Bible Study youth for seven years.

-I was a case manager for 5 years in a 24-hour placement for adjudicated teenage boys.

-I currently mentor a handful of young men who have sought me out in my community experience as a result of my “everywhere is a mission field” mindset.

-Finally, I mentored two incarcerated young men whom I knew locally.

-One of them has transitioned very successfully into a vibrant Christian walk in all aspects of life since his release nine years ago. The remaining young man still has four years to serve in his sentence. He is maturing and ministering to other inmates.

-I have been actively volunteering at Teen Central since September 2015.
